Hello Electrified Miata fans! Another short update. The second battery is done, pictured here sitting on top of the first. The Leaf motor coupler has shipped and should be here Tuesday according to UPS. Joe continues to make progress on the BMS boards. We're estimating I'll have the first batch of 30 boards, ready to complete the batteries in another two weeks! All the parts will be coming soon. I'm getting very excited about getting wheel smoking power again. It's been too long.
Since I'll be waiting on the some parts, next week's focus will be details in software. I've completed just enough code in the BMS and multi-hub areas to to prove the software would work, but there are LOTS of details to finish. To get a head start on the Miata software and configuration, I'll have the go-kart use 3 Pi's. One Pi for display, one Pi for Battery Monitoring and one Pi to run contactors and a current sensor. The kart doesn't need three Pi's, but I'd like to test a mini-version of what will be going in the Miata. We will be evaluating the coupler once it arrives and that will dictate future plans. In the mean time, we'll cut some more plastic to cover and protect the batteries for testing in the go-kart before they are mounted in the Miata. Hope everyone is staying healthy and having fun!
