Can this be made into all electric and really fast too?

Hello Electrified Miata and Formula Mazda-E fans! The last time I wrote y'all (in late Feb!), we had just gotten the Electrified Miata on the ground and got to try it out. We need to make a bunch of modifications to make it road worthy, and we're in the middle of that. This is a quick update to let y'all know we're still working out all the details. First, thanks to Tom Crookston, we got an affordable deal on adjustable height shock/spring combination. We have those installed and have corrected the ride height problems. Also thanks to Arm Suwarnaratana, we were able to weigh the car and discover that we're within 100 lbs of stock, although the weight has been shifted to the rear. To make the car run longer, we need the 12 volts DC/DC charger to work. The stock Leaf Power Distribution Module) (PDM) takes care of this function and we're able to verify it works fine. We have yet to install it, because the PDM also contains the High Voltage charger. After some research and bench testing, we've found that the PDM needs a signal from an Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment. Yep! That means the stock LEAF PDM won't function unless it gets certain signals found in a charging stations. I've ordered the parts and we'll see what happens when we hook it all up. The Formula Mazda-E has been out on the track a few more times and starting to get all the numbers dialed in. This car provides a clean, easy, quiet driving experience with all the fun of racing, but simplified. There is still some tweaking and adjustments to do (that part of racing never goes away), but looking forward to getting behind the wheel after I learn the tracks. That is one experience that is *not* street legal. ;)
As you probably tell, there is a lot of people involved to make conversions like this happen. Thanks so much to the eMiata team, and thanks for the larger community for y'alls support! Will let y'all know when it's time for test drives in the eMiata.

The gen2 Leaf PDM has been pretty much fully hacked now including charging. Checkout this tread: https://openinverter.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1277

Thanks for the information. We've gotten it to charge, but not reliably yet. I think it has to do with not having a 'standard' EVSE. We're working on that part too, but the charger is mounted in the car now and I'm working on getting the title straightened out. Guess I need to write an update soon! ;)

After I talk about how the parts of the Miata are communicating I thought you might be interested in this:
